Kenya School of Government cancels several certificates
The Kenya School of Government (KSG) has canceled certificates bearing serial numbers MA 0251 to MA 1000.
The Kenya School of Government (KSG) has canceled certificates bearing serial numbers MA 0251 to MA 1000.
In a public notice on Tuesday, November 11, KSG Director General Nura Mohamed said the canceled certificates were never issued by the institution.
“This is to notify the public that the Kenya School of Government has cancelled Certificates of Achievement Serial No. MA 0251 to MA 1000.
“These certificates were never issued or utilized by the School for the award of a Kenya School of Government qualification,” read the notice in part.
The KSG Director General emphasized that the certificates cannot be presented as evidence of qualification issued by the institution.
Mohamed urged employers and other concerned parties to disregard any attempts to use the canceled certificates.
“Accordingly, these certificates are invalid and cannot be presented or recognized as evidence of any qualification issued by the School.
“The School, therefore, advises all concerned parties to disregard any use or presentation of the aforementioned certificates,” the KSG Director General added.
This comes months after the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) launched a digital platform that will be used to verify the authenticity of academic certificates.
In a statement on July 4, Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok said the platform was necessary as the government seeks to weed out the use of fake certificates.
He added that the platform is already being used by the Public Service Commission (PSC).

According to the PS, the system will be used when the government is recruiting employees to join the public service.
“The platform, which is currently being piloted in collaboration with the Public Service Commission, marks a major step forward in the fight against fake academic papers. It provides a fast, secure, and reliable way to authenticate certificates issued by KNEC,” read the statement in part.
“This innovation will enhance transparency and credibility in recruitment processes, especially within the public service, and ensure that only genuine qualifications are recognised.”
Fake certificates within the public service have been an issue, with many Kenyans being taken to court and charged for using forged academic papers.
In its annual report covering the 2023/2024 financial year, PSC revealed that 449 government employees were fired after being found with fake certificates.
