Kibaki's grandson Sean Andrew says Jomo Kenyatta, Uhuru's son was unfairly targeted by the government in Guns saga

Kibaki’s grandson Sean Andrew says Jomo Kenyatta, Uhuru’s son was unfairly targeted by the government in Guns saga.

Sean Andrew, the grandson of late former President Mwai Kibaki, has come to the defence of Jomo Kenyatta, the son of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta against accusations that he owns illegal firearms.

In an interview, Andrew defended Mama Ngina Kenyatta, the mother of Uhuru, who had her security withdrawn by the government due to allegations that she had supported opposition demonstrations.

Andrew said that it is wrong to single out Jomo and his grandma Ngina, and he urged the government to negotiate with the opposition in order to find a resolution.

“Jomo is someone I know personally, and I think he was unfairly targeted. I’m not gonna pick sides politically or anything, but I think Jomo is innocent, and so is Mama Ngina. They should not have targeted anyone,” Andrew said.

“It’s unrelated to what their issues are. I think these are grown men, and they should talk it out,” he added.

Asked if he intended to enter politics in the future, Andrew firmly rejected the idea, adding that one need not be a politician to serve others.

The Kenyatta family has been in the limelight lately, where the government has accused the former president of funding protests.

The former president was forced to intervene after government officials went to his son’s house in Karen and demanded that he surrenders his guns.

The state claimed Jomo had guns in his house, but in court documents and in an interview with journalists, Uhuru said his two sons have three firearms each.

Jomo has already obtained a court order obstructing the government from revoking his gun licence.
