Kibet Bull's mother speaks after her son is released

Social media influencer and cartoonist Kibet Bull has confirmed he is free after he was abducted two weeks ago.

Kibet said that he was dropped off in Luanda Vihiga County on Monday from around 3 am to 4 am.

His mother, Caroline Mutai, confirmed Kibet’s release by his abductors, saying that his son contacted her at around 10 am and identified himself, saying he was coming home.

“Sahizi tumefurahi, tumewika. Aliniambia yuko Nakuru,” he said.

Kibet’s mother said that the festive season was not a happy time for her as she was disturbed by her sons’ disappearance.

“I cried; while other families were celebrating, I was crying while reading the Bible.”

She promised to hold a feast to celebrate his two sons, who had disappeared and are back home.

His younger brother Rony Kibet was also found alive on Monday morning in Machakos.

Speaking hours after he broke the news, Kibet said he decided to tweet on X to inform Kenyans that he was safe and heading home.

“I found myself today at Luanda at around 3 am–4 am. I looked for a place to stay until morning for my safety because I did not know anyone or the place,” he said.

He further added that he will reduce his presence on social media.

On Monday, two more youths who had been allegedly abducted in December were also freed by their alleged abductors.

This increased to four the number of those so far released by alleged abductors.

The families of Billy Mwangi, Peter Muteti and Bernard Kavuli said their kin had contacted them.

Mwangi and Muteti had met their families physically.

Officials said Rony was found in Machakos County, and Bernard Kavuli, who was abducted in Ngong, was found in Kitale.
