Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has unveiled a list of available diploma and certificate programmes at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) for the March 2025 intake.
This follows the opening of the application portal last week, with a deadline for submissions set for February 14, 2025.
The programmes on offer include a range of certificate and diploma courses in various health-related fields. For those applying for certificate courses, including the Certificate in Community Health Assistant, Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology, Certificate in Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nursing, Certificate in Medical Emergency Technician, Certificate in Public Health, and Certificate in Orthopaedic Trauma Medicine, the minimum entry requirement is a C- grade.
For applicants interested in the Certificate in Nutrition and Dietetics and Certificate in Medical Engineering, a D+ grade is required.
Diploma courses available at KMTC include the Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery, Diploma in Emergency Medical Technology, and Diploma in Health Counselling, all of which require a minimum grade of C.
Additionally, applicants for the Diploma in Health Insurance Management must also have a minimum of C.
For the Diploma in Health Records and Information Technology, applicants need a C grade in English or Kiswahili, a C- in Mathematics, and at least a D+ in Biology or other relevant subjects, such as Agriculture, Chemistry, or Computer Science. This course is available at campuses in Isiolo, Maua, Nairobi, and Siaya.
The Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, which also has a minimum entry grade of C, requires a C in either English or Kiswahili and Biology or Business. Applicants must have at least a C- in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.
Other diploma programmes requiring a minimum mean grade of C include the Diploma in Kenya Registered Nursing, Diploma in Kenya Registered Nursing and Midwifery, Diploma in Kenya Registered Nursing (Mental Health and Psychiatry), Diploma in Medical Engineering, Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Diploma in Medical Social Work, and Diploma in Mortuary Science.
Psychiatry courses are being offered at Mathare, Muranga, and Port Reitz campuses, while nursing and midwifery courses are available at Homa Bay, Kakamega, Kombewa, and Mosorio campuses.

The Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics has a minimum grade requirement of C-, while the Diploma in Occupational Therapy and Diploma in Optometry both require an entry mark of C.
Other diploma courses available, including the Diploma in Orthopaedic Technology, Diploma in Orthopaedic and Trauma Medicine, Diploma in Pharmacy, Diploma in Physiotherapy, Diploma in Public Health, Diploma in Radiography and Imaging, and Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy, all require a minimum of C grade.
KUCCPS has also announced the opening of applications for 266 government-run Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, set to begin in May.
According to the notice issued today, applicants for Diploma/Level 6 courses will need a minimum mean grade of C-, while those applying for Craft Certificate/Level 5 courses must have a D grade. Artisan Certificate/Level 4 courses require a minimum mean grade of E.
“The application is open to prospective trainees who sat the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations from the year 2000 to 2024,” KUCCPS stated.
