Trade Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria defies his Agriculture counterpart Mithika Linturi's request to postpone the opening of an industrial park in Meru County

Trade Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria defies his Agriculture counterpart Mithika Linturi’s request to postpone the opening of an industrial park in Meru County.

The Cabinet Secretary for Trade and Industry now alleges that some politicians in Meru County petitioned for the industrial park’s Monday-scheduled groundbreaking ceremony to be postponed.

The CS, who has been on a mission to launch industrial parks across the country, claimed CS Mithika Linturi had pleaded with him to cancel the event.

The appeals to postpone the event, according to the trade CS, were prompted by continuing county leadership disputes between Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza and County Assembly Members.

“Tomorrow (Monday) I ground break in the great Meru County. I have received requests from my colleague Mithika Linturi and the Meru Leadership to postpone due to the prevailing political situation in Meru,” CS Kuria said.

CS Kuria however says he turned down the request owing to the urgent need to solve poverty and joblessness facing many youths in the country.

“With profound respect, I will not postpone. The joblessness and poverty facing our people can not wait for even one hour as we fix our broken politics,” the CS said.

CS Kuria has so far launched the County Aggregation & Industrial Parks in Busia, Kakamega, Bumgoma, Trans Nzoia, Migori, Siaya, Kisii, Nyamira, Mombasa, Kajiado, Narok and Laikipia Counties.

Governor Kawira Mwangaza dares Meru MCAs to impeach her again ‘Bring it on’

Governor Mwangaza is in the eye of the storm after MCAs launched a second impeachment process of kicking her out of office again.

The Governor has already fallen out with his deputy Isaac Mutuma who has accused her of harassment and denying him an opportunity to serve.

Mwangaza claims the local leaders are being pushed by a powerful individual who is plotting for the 2027 general election.

On Sunday while visiting Meru County, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua remarked that he would steer clear from Meru County politics.

‘’We have talked with the Governor, Deputy Governor, and all leaders and we have all agreed that this is a Meru problem,’’ he stated, adding that President William Ruto would also not be involved in Meru County affairs.

He added that Linturi and the county leadership should sit down with church leaders for a homegrown solution to the political disputes affecting the area.
