Baby Sagini's grandmother in a new twist reveals that the ancestral land dispute was the centre of the incident in the minor's case
Baby Sagini’s grandmother in a new twist reveals that the ancestral land dispute was the centre of the incident in the minor’s case.
In a statement to police on December 22, Baby Sagini’s grandmother accused her daughter-in-law of hurting the three-year-old.
The grandmother claimed that Sagini’s cousin and her daughter-in-law planned to have the three-year-old killed in her statement to detectives headquartered in Kisii.
The fight over a piece of ancestral land that Baby Sagini was supposed to inherit was at the center of the incident.
She said in her statement that the two primary suspects were intended to harm the baby because they did not want the three-year-old, who was a stepson in the family, to inherit family land.
The grandmother explained that despite being advised against it, the two came up with the plan and were determined to kill baby Sagini.

Baby Sagini’s main suspect arrested; Why he gouged out 3-year-old’s eyes
The revelation from Sagini’s grandmother came just hours after her arrest on Thursday.
According to the police, the three-year-old’s aunt carried him in a genie bag to the maize plantation and was later joined by her son.
The police further suspected that the gouging of the eyes took place at the maize plantation even as they intensified their investigations into the incident.
Meanwhile, Baby Sagini, his mother, and his sister, on the other hand, have been placed under protective custody in an undisclosed location in Nairobi county for their safety.
