Last moments of a teacher crushed to death by a train

Teacher crushed to death by a train in Nakuru County

A primary school teacher crushed to death by a train in Nakuru county watched helplessly as the train approached him at a high speed.

Said Chungi, the deputy police commander for the railways, revealed to the media on January 12 that the 64-year-old man was struck by the Naivasha-bound train at 7 am as he was making his way to work.

The man named Joseph got stranded on the railway line and reportedly attempted to save himself, according to an eyewitness who saw the tragedy occur.

“When he was crossing, one of his legs got trapped in between the rails. The train sounded the horn as it tried to slow down but it was too late,” he stated.

“He first crossed the line and kept on going back and forth. From my own assessment, he looked very stressed,” the bystander disclosed.

The deceased’s body was taken to the Nakuru County Mortuary, where an autopsy will take place.

According to Chungi, this was the third time a local had died at the section while attempting to cross a railroad track.

He urged locals to cross the railroad tracks with caution and cautioned drivers against doing dangerous maneuvers.

“Do not try to compete with the train. When the locomotive is on the track, it creates a string magnetic field which can affect the operation of the vehicle or motorbike,” Chungi stated.

The police further warned residents from attempting to cross the intersections without a clear and sober mind.
