Parliament invites members of the public to give views on nominated MPs set to be conferred with Presidential awards.

The public has been invited by Parliament to share their opinions on the nominated Members of Parliament who will be receiving Presidential awards during Jamhuri Day, December 12 celebrations.

Kenyans were asked to send their thoughts by Tuesday, November 14, to the Parliamentary Honours Advisory Committee’s joint secretariat.

Among the lawmakers nominated for the awards that will be presented by President William Ruto on Jamhuri Day – December 12 – are Kimani Ichung’wah (Kikuyu MP), Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja MP), Justice Madzayo (Kilifi Senator), and Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho Senator).

The four were selected for the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH).

The Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart (MGH) honor will be given to former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leader Johnson Muthama and senator Tabitha “Keroche” Karanja of Nakuru County.

A total of 37 MPs were nominated, including Senator Edwin Sifuna of Nairobi, for the position of Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS).

However, seven directors were also been nominated for the Order of the Grand Warrior Award.

The National Honors and Awards Committee advises the President on the honoraries.

The recipients are nominated by their county commissioners, government agencies, religious institutions, non-governmental entities, individuals, and other community-based groups.

Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (CGH) is the highest award and is usually awarded to sitting presidents and prominent religious or military leaders.
