Miguna Miguna fails to make the cut as Letangule, Danstan Omari, Taib Ali among 15 shortlisted for the DPP position.

Former IEBC commissioner Thomas Letangule, lawyer Danstan Omari and advocate Taib Ali Taib are among 15 people who have been shortlisted for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) job.

However, firebrand lawyer Miguna Miguna’s aspirations to replace Noordin Haji hit a snag after missing out on the shortlist.

The outspoken lawyer’s name was conspicuously missing shortlist published by the Public Service Commission (PSC) on Saturday, July 22. 

While PSC did not give the specific reasons why the lawyer did not make it to the list, it was explained that the list of successful applicants was drawn after careful consideration of all applications.

Others who were shortlisted for the DPP position included; Tabitha Wanyama, David Kiplagat Ruto, Jacob Ondari, James Ndegwa, David Okachi, and Renson Ingonga also made it to the list.

A statement from Shadrack Mose, the chairperson of the selection panel for the DPP position, he said that a total of 48 people applied for the job.

The position fell vacant following the appointment of Noordin Haji to take up the role as National Intelligence Service (NIS) chief.

Interviews for those shortlisted will happen on August 1 and 2, 2023.

Solicitor General Shadrack Mose invited public participation in the interview process saying Kenyans are allowed to provide any information of interest regarding the candidates.

“Members of the public are invited to avail any credible information of interest relating to any of the shortlisted candidates (through sworn affidavits) to the Secretary or CEO of Public Service Commission,” he said.
