Louis van Gaal “has never forgiven Man United”, advices another player to snub United
Louis van Gaal “seems to still have bad blood has with Manchester United” after he advices another player to ignore United’s interest.
Louis van Gaal acrimoniously left Manchester United in 2016 after winning the FA cup final.
Just after winning the final against Crystal Palace, news broke out that he had been fired; news of which Van Gaal was not aware of.
And it looks like since then, the Netherlands national team coach still has issues with the Red Devils.
Van Gaal has in the past interviews referred to the club as a commercial club.
He recently advised Erick Ten Hang and Frankie de Jong against joining Man United as a coach and a player respectively.
And now, Dutch journalist Mike Verweij has claimed that the former Manchester United coach has advised Ajax defender Jurrien Timber to stay in Amsterdam amidst genuine interest from the Red Devils.
Timber has emerged as a transfer target for United’s new manager Erik ten Hag.
During the 2019-20 season, the Dutch tactician promoted the 20-year-old from Ajax’s junior level to the first squad, and he has since developed into a significant member of their starting lineup.
Last season, he helped Ajax win the Eredivisie by scoring three goals and providing two assists in 30 games.
Louis van Gaal has however advised the Dutch defender to stay at Ajax, where he will continue to improve and give himself the best chance of being at the peak of his game before the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
This has reduced United’s chances of signing the 20-year-old.
“Meanwhile Jurrien Timber would have been a very welcoming arrival, but Louis van Gaal has advised him to stay at Ajax. The chances of him still moving to Manchester United are very small,” said Mike Verweij as per Telegraaf.
