Former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta on Thursday, October 30, visited the home of Raila Odinga in Bondo to pay her respects to the late Prime Minister.
In a statement, the Raila Amollo Odinga Foundation acknowledged Mama Ngina’s visit and expressed gratitude for her gesture.
“Thank you Former First Lady, Mama Ngina Kenyatta and your family for joining the nation in mourning and coming home to commiserate with Mama Ida Odinga and the family of the late Prime Minister, Raila Amolo Odinga,” the foundation said in its message.
Mama Ngina was accompanied by her family, including son Muhoho Kenyatta and daughter Kristina Pratt.
The visit comes days after the late Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua’s wife, Margaret Nyokabi, visited Opoda farm to condole with Mama Ida.
Nyokabi and her daughter, Mercy, were received at the Bondo home to pay their respects to the family of the former Prime Minister who passed away on October 15.

In a statement, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) acknowledged the visit, noting the historical significance of the gesture.
“Widow of the 1st Governor of Nyeri County, the late Hon. Nderitu Gachagua Mama Margaret Nyokabi, and her daughter Mercy were at Opoda farm in Bondo today to give pole to Mama Ida Odinga and family following the passing of Baba Raila Odinga on the 15th of this month,” the statement read.
Prior to this, former President Uhuru Kenyatta had on Monday, October 20, visited Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, to pay his last respects to the former Prime Minister.
In a statement, the Office of the 4th President of Kenya said Uhuru also visited the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Mausoleum where other members of the Odinga family are buried.
“A day after the burial of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, former President Uhuru Kenyatta visited the Odinga family at Opoda Farm and Kang’o ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya County, where the former Premier was laid to rest.
“The former Head of State condoled with the family and paid tribute to the life and legacy of his longtime friend and compatriot. Kenyatta also visited the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Mausoleum to honor the memory of the Odinga family’s enduring contribution to Kenya’s history and democracy,” the statement read.
