A man attacked and seriously injured his mother before he died by suicide in a village in Kilgoris, Narok County

A man attacked and seriously injured his mother before he died by suicide in a village in Kilgoris, Narok County.

According to Police, the suspect first used a sharp machete to attack the elderly woman after a disagreement over unknown issues.

He left his mother bleeding at the scene, rushed to his house, and locked himself.

The body of the man was later found hanging on a truss of his house with a manila rope tied around his neck.

Police officers rushed to the scene and found the woman with serious injuries and took her to the hospital.

The team later broke into the house where the body of the said assailant was found and moved to the mortuary for autopsy.

Elsewhere, police are looking for a gang that raided a home in Bumula, Bungoma County, and killed a teacher in a robbery.

The gang broke into the home of one Fred Wekesa, a headteacher at Lunao Primary School, and tied him alongside his wife using ropes before assaulting the man.

The gang of about four later robbed a couple of mobile phones, a television set, and assorted clothes of unknown value and disappeared to an unknown destination.

Police officers rushed to the scene and found the body of the man with multiple injuries lying in a pool of blood.

The body was removed to Bungoma Referral Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Police said no arrest had been made and that a team of detectives had been sent to the area to pursue the gang.

Such attacks have been on the rise in the region with calls for action to tame the trend. Police say they have deployed teams to address the menace.
