A 28-year-old man electrocuted to death while stealing coffee from a factory in Kiambu on Tuesday.

The suspect had gained entry into a factory in the Kibichoi area, where dried coffee beans were kept, according to the police.

However, he struck a live wire while attempting to escape the scene, electrocuting himself.

According to the police report, the man was found dead with a stolen coffee sack at the factory’s entrance.

“He touched a live wire as he tried to escape,” a detective told Kenyans.co.ke

According to the police, the young man was moved to the mortuary pending further investigations.

On the same, a 15-year-old was on Tuesday electrocuted in Nairobi’s Mukuru Slum as he was playing.

Police said there were no visible injuries detected on the body and that it was suspected that the deceased might have been electrocuted after stepping on a wet live electric wire.

His friend said he stepped on a live naked wire on Tuesday which killed him instantly.

This came just hours after two siblings died after touching a live wire in Muranga.

The incident comes after Kenya Power warned Kenyans of the pending risk of electrocution during this rainy season.

Kenyans have also been cautioned not to shelter near live power cables.

Likewise, parents have been advised to stop children from playing near or under power transmission lines as this could cause electrocution.
