Irrate villagers in Mogoon, Nakuru West Sub-County beat to death a man impersonating police officer.
One person lost his life while another narrowly escaped from the hands of irate villagers in Mogoon, Nakuru West Sub-County on Monday, November 4.
Villagers allegedly decided to take matters into their own hands after they discovered a group of four men who were masquerading as police officers.
One of the imposters was cornered and lynched, while his counterpart narrowly escaped with his life.
One witness recounted the events of the day, explaining how members of the public alerted others when they discovered the suspects’ fraud scheme.
“All I heard was people raising alarm over thieves,” a witness said, adding that villagers eventually cornered one of the imposters.
Confirming the incident, Nakuru Police Commander Michael Mwaura revealed one set of police uniforms was found inside the suspects’ car as two others fled on foot.
The suspects were also in possession of handcuffs, which have also been confiscated by authorities.
This latest incident brought to focus a worrying trend of individuals impersonating police officers to go on a crime spree.

A grieving family was treated to a harsh reality of scammers masquerading as police officers in September as they were defrauded KSh 20,000 by an individual who claimed to know the whereabouts of Victoria Wambua, the female taxi driver who went missing before eventually being found dead.
In July this year, five individuals, including a police officer were nabbed in Kitui as they masqueraded as officers attached to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
The five were reportedly targeting a senior government official, whom they wanted to extort a hefty amount of money.
A separate incident in Busia earlier this year saw a woman arrested after she was found impersonating a General Service Unit (GSU) officer. The suspect was in full GSU uniform and was armed with an AK-47, but was unable to produce identification when prompted.
