A man is on the run after exhuming the body of a woman he had killed and secretly buried in Luanda, Vihiga County.
A man is on the run after exhuming the body of a woman he had killed and secretly buried in Luanda, Vihiga County.
Police in Bunyore, Luanda Sub-county, Vihiga County, are hunting a man who exhumed the body of a woman whom he had killed and secretly buried.
According to Mwitako sub-location Assistant Chief Mrs Felistus Semo, the culprit exhumed the body and dumped it in the neighbourhood.
Semo, on Wednesday, 28th January 2026, said locals discovered the body after a foul smell emanated from a plot near the suspect’s compound.
The assistant chief said the woman had been living with the suspect as husband and wife some months ago.
She said the woman had been searched for by her family without success, only for her badly decomposing body to be discovered in a bush.
“We have a shocking incident that has been reported in my area at the Mwitako sub-location. A man exhumed the body of a woman he had killed and secretly buried,” said the assistant chief.

Police from Luanda Police Station visited the scene before taking the body to the mortuary.
“The police from Luanda Police Station visited the scene and took the body to the mortuary as investigations have commenced,” said Semo.
An angry mob destroyed the suspect’s house by setting it on fire.
Police are still hunting the suspect.
The incident comes a few weeks after two decomposing bodies were discovered dumped in a septic tank in Mbale town.
The bodies are suspected to have been killed and dumped in the septic tank.
