Man United snubbed Pogba after sending multiple text messages over contract renewal
Man United snubbed Pogba after sending multiple text messages over contract renewal in summer of 2020.
Paul Pogba was ‘left deflated’ after being snubbed on text messages over Man Utd contract.
The summer of 2020 became pivotal in the Frenchman’s long-term future at Manchester United, as text texts revealing his demands of the club via his supervisor surfaced.
Manchester United confirmed Paul Pogba’s exit at the conclusion of his contract on Wednesday, making him a free agent.
It brings an end to the Frenchman’s tumultuous six-year stay at Old Trafford, which had many of flashes of brilliance but also lots of frustrations over his form and fitness.

Man United snubbed Pogba
A report in The Athletic has now outlined how the central midfielder sent multiple text messages to Solskjaer in the summer of 2020 with a request: to push for the renewal of his contract.
Pogba had 12 months remaining on that deal but was determined to pen a new agreement that would secure his long-term future at Old Trafford.
The Norwegian boss responded to that request by insisting that he had informed the club’s board of the situation and was pushing for them to renew Pogba’s contract.
However, United’s directors opted against this and instead triggered the one-year extension on the player’s contract instead.
That meant that Pogba would be at the club through to the summer of 2022, rather than 2021, but would ensure that his £290k-per-week contract would remain unchanged. This situation was said to have left the player ‘deflated’ and changed his long-term thinking at the club.
The following year, United did offer a new longer-term deal to Pogba – after they enjoyed their strongest campaign in years.
As United finished second in the Premier League, the Frenchman played a significant role, although one limited to only 21 Premier League starts. Nonetheless, the athlete had lost interest in committing to the team.
Pogba has now left United as a free agent for the second time in his career.
Despite certain highlights and flashes of his finest form during his time at United, it has mostly been an uninspiring tenure for United’s record signing.
Following a club-record £89 million signing in 2016, Pogba returned to United after four years at Juventus.
During his second career with the club, the midfielder went on to make 226 appearances and score 39 goals, despite being plagued by injuries and a lack of fittness.
