Manchester City performs Nathan Ake transfer U-turn amid Chelsea links
Manchester City performs Nathan Ake transfer U-turn amid interest from Chelsea this transfer window.
According to a Manchester Evening News report, City would not allow Nathan Ake to depart the club this summer ‘without having a replacement lined up’.
Nathan Ake has been linked with a return to his former club Chelsea, and the Telegraph report he remains ‘the most likely’ target to replace Antonio Rudiger.
Manchester City have, however, slapped a fee of £50m on the defender.
Ake has three years remaining on his current contract at the Etihad.
Manchester City Nathan Ake transfer
Nathan Ake is the latest player to be targeted by Chelsea as new owner Todd Boehly.
Telegraph claim that Chelsea are confident of bringing Ake back to Stamford Bridge — where he came through as a professional before leaving to join Bournemouth permanently.
However, Man City are not flush with center-backs either.
Ake is one of just four senior players in that position at the club and so there is no current intention to sell him.
While Pep Guardiola has a general rule that any players that want to leave will be allowed to if they present an acceptable offer from another club, Pep will not let the defender leave without a good offer and a replacement for his position.
