Marc Cucurella’s transfer to Manchester City on verge of collapsing
Marc Cucurella’s transfer to Manchester City on verge of collapsing with Brighton asking for £ 50 million.
Manchester City have already informed Brighton they are not willing to meet their £ 50 million asking price for Marc Cucurella’s transfer.
According to AtalkSPORT, City have had an initial £30m bid for Seagulls left-back Cucurella rejected.
Brighton are not actively seeking to sell the Spain international this summer.
City’s fullback Zinchenko is expected to sign for Arsenal £32 million, and the Premier League winners are already looking for a replacement for the Ukrainian.
Cucurella is highly regarded by City manager Pep Guardiola as a result of last season’s Players’ Player of the Season and Player of the Season honours given by Brighton.
Guardiola, though, seems unconcerned by the issue and insists he has plenty of choices in that position, despite City’s problems to sign his top target.
“If it doesn’t happen we have alternatives,” the Spanish coach said after his team’s pre-season victory over Club America in Houston.
“Joao Cancelo, Josh Wilson-Esbrand is a young talent, Nathan Ake can play there.”
Cucurella, 23, signed for the Seagulls from Getafe on a five-year contract in August 2021 and immediately settled in the Premier League.
He made headlines for bursting into tears after netting his first Seagulls goal during a 4-0 victory over Manchester United in May.
