He explained that the opposition team could not name their candidate in advance, expressing fears over a plot by the government to cause divisions among them.
“They are trying to come up with ways to cause divisions, but we are not stupid. We cannot go against each other. Are we stupid? We shall remain silent until December 2026, when we will announce who the person is. If we talk right now, they will plot against us. We are patriotic, and we will put our selfish interests aside for the benefit of the people of this country,” he stated.
Additionally, during the same meeting in Machakos, Gachagua hinted at a possible alliance with several leaders including Matiang’i.
He revealed that talks are underway to form a united political front aimed at charting a new path for the country.
“We have listened to Kenyans who have said we come together and form a government that would take the country forward. I’m doing that with Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, George Natembeya and Fred Matiang’i. I want to assure the people of Kenya that we have a formula to give you good leadership,” he said.
