Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has called on the Gen Zs to register and prepare to vote in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking after returning to the country on June 19, night, Matiang’i said that failing to register as voters will not guarantee the youth any success in the next election.

“Please, Gen Zs, we can do as much as we want, but if we are not registering and preparing to vote, we have not succeeded. The drive is we register, we vote, and we prepare ourselves to participate effectively and in a quality manner, in the forthcoming electoral process,” said Matiang’i.

At the same time, the former Interior CS said he is saddened by the things happening in the country.

Matiang’i emphasized that all Kenyans are one family and must always find a way to engage each other.

“I am pained and saddened by the things that are happening in this country. We are all one family in our country, however you think and play your politics; our country must always be one and all of us must find a way of engaging each other,” he stated.

The former CS pointed out that issues affecting the country don’t discriminate between those in support of the government and those in the opposition.

Matiang’i said he is committed to finding solutions to the nation’s challenges, noting that half of the problems stem from poor management and leadership.

“I want to assure you a hundred per cent you can trust me. I am going to spend all my time on this. I want to see how we can find solutions to the challenges we face. That’s why you have not heard me making negative statements, because negative energy has no returns.

“Let’s focus on solutions. Half of our problems have nothing to do with money; they are management and leadership,” Matiang’i added.
