Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki revealed that he shared a cordial relationship with his predecessor Fred Matiang’i who called him via mobile phone.

On Saturday, December 24, Kindiki revealed in an interview with Citizen TV that the former CS had called him twice to discuss work at the Ministry.

The CS stated that some of his predecessor’s legacy projects at the Ministry were to continue under the new administration.

“We have spoken severally on various matters and my predecessor has certain ideas that he thinks he had initiated and would want to see the light of day,” he shared.

On other occasions, Kindiki asserted that they would talk about matters of national interest.

“Once or twice he has called me on national issues about what we are doing and he has given me good suggestions.

“We are in communication with Matiang’i and we wish him well in his new chapter,” he added.

Additionally, Kindiki discussed his first 50 days at the Ministry in the interview, outlining the changes he and his family had experienced.

He claimed that, in addition to rising early, he stated that he could not go to bed before 10:00pm.

“It is a challenge like no other because every day at 3:30 am, I must be up so that I can get security briefs at 4:00am every day,” Kindiki stated.

Matiang’i handed over the Ministry to Kindiki on November 1 after the latter took oath of office.

The former CS has maintained a low profile since President William Ruto ascended to power.
