Meet me at ODM NDC: Oburu to critics of his leadership
ODM Party leader Oburu Oginga has invited critics questioning his legitimacy to attend the party’s upcoming National Delegates Conference (NDC) on March 27, saying the forum will offer a platform to settle the matter democratically.
Speaking amid claims from some quarters that he was not formally confirmed by an NDC, Oburu said the party had officially convened the meeting and challenged his detractors to present their case before delegates.
The National Delegates Conference is the highest decision-making organ of the Orange Democratic Movement and is mandated to ratify key party decisions, including leadership positions.
“We are going to have our NDC. Those who have been saying Oburu is an illegitimate ODM party leader because he was not confirmed by NDC, we have called the meeting on March 27, and we are inviting them to come, and if they have something to say to Kenyans, let them come and say it there. We shall meet them there. Delegates, will you give me the leadership of the party?” he said.
The NDC is expected to bring together party officials, elected leaders, and delegates from across the country.

A section of ODM leaders have been opposed to Oburu’s leadership as wrangles with the party deepen.
ODM announced plans to convene its NDC on March 27, 2026, as the party gears up for the forthcoming general elections.
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino criticised the recent installation of the party leader immediately after the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga saying the process was rushed and lacked transparency.
“Baba dies a day like today, and tomorrow you are installed as the party leader. Why the hurry? Baba wasn’t even buried, and already the party was taken,” he said.
“What was the hurry about and the manner in which it was done? That meeting was an illegal meeting; it was not procedurally called.”
