Migori Jamhuri Day fete turn chaotic during delivery of Ruto’s speech (video)

President Ruto’s speech was interrupted in Migori County during the Jamuhuri Day celebration following political clashes between two rival groups.

The area County Commissioner was forced to cut the speech short after the groups stormed the venue and disrupted the event.

A section of the faction wanted him to go on with the speech, while the two rival groups continued with their alterations.

The administrative officer was forced to plead with the crowd to let him finish up with the speech, attempts that fell on deaf ears.

Police officers’ attempt to control the two local political factions failed with the ugly scenes turning the event into a battleground of unrest for the entire day.

Efforts by Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko and area MP Paul Abuor to restore order proved futile as the situation continued to deteriorate.

Police resorted to firing shots in the air to disperse the unruly youth, but with no success as the camps stood their ground.

Some plain-clothed officers even went to the extent of pulling and pushing away some youths but with limited success.

At the same time, residents appeared entrenched in politically charged arguments that fueled the conflict, making it nearly impossible for police to restore order.

The event borders yet another ugly scene witnessed in Nyandarua where residents of County caused a commotion as the President’s speech was about to be read during the 61st Jamhuri Day celebrations.

The calm crowd suddenly turned wild and started protesting raising their voices with others standing up and throwing their hands in the air.

Efforts by the county commissioner to read the speech were unsuccessful as the booing grew louder from the irate crowd.

Additionally, on Sunday, October 20, residents of Juja heckled as President Ruto’s Mashujaa Day speech was being delivered by the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) of the sub-county.

It is a common practice in most common-wealth countries such as Kenya for the Head of State’s speech to be read in different parts of the country where the figures cannot be physically present.

Ruto is tolerating a lot of nonsense and trying to desperately play both sides.
