The Ministry of Health has cautioned Kenyans against handling mysterious objects that fall from the sky.
In a statement issued by Health PS Mary Muthoni, Kenyans were advised to always alert authorities should such objects fall from the sky as was the case in Makueni.
The PS noted that the move would prevent any health hazards that the objects can cause.
Meanwhile, the PS announced that preliminary investigations into the rocket debris in Makueni showed that it did not pose any health risks.
“While preliminary assessments suggest no immediate threat to public health, the Ministry of Health advises the public to avoid the area where the object was found and refrain from handling any unknown materials,” read the statement in part.

“Communities are encouraged to report any health concerns or unusual environmental changes to local health authorities. The Ministry remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all Kenyans and will provide updates as investigations progress.”
According to the PS, a team of nuclear and health experts was deployed to Makueni after the fall of the metallic object.
As a precaution, health promoters were alerted to monitor any unusual health risks among the public.
Further, the Ministry noted that it was planning to offer mental health assistance to the affected community.
“The actions underway include developing a comprehensive policy framework for managing chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear hazards. Procurement of additional protective equipment for training and response,” the PS added.
