Ann Njoroge, the missing bisinesswoman says she was threatened with death in Karura forest over the controversial oil saga

Ann Njoroge, the missing bisinesswoman says she was threatened with death in Karura forest over the controversial oil saga.

Missing Ann Njoroge has emerged in Mombasa County, days after being reported missing.

Njoroge was captured alongside her lawyer, Cliff Ombeta, who confirmed her whereabouts.

The duo was captured walking into the Mombasa Law Courts minutes past noon.

Speaking outside Court on Tuesday, the Businesswoman narrated that there were people who were after her over the oil consignment.

Her lawyer Cliff Ombeta said she was taken to Karura forest after recording statement at DCI offices.

“The last person she was with and relatives were asked to leave the premises. She was then kept in a house in the middle of Karura forest,” Ombeta said.

He said Ann was blindfolded and taken to the house in the middle of Karura forest from the DCI headquarters.

“She was told she would die if she does not leave the oil and withdraw the case from the Mombasa High Court,” Ombeta said.

“The government has stolen this fuel. It was not theirs but they have put it in their pipelines.”

Ombeta said Anne was abandoned ay Nyayo In Embakasi on Monday.

“She was kept in one room, attached to chains. She had to ask for permission to help herself. For two days, she was threatened,” he said.

“The threats to kill her, were real.”

Ombeta said they told her they would release her on Sunday on conditions.

“She was told she need to withdraw the case she had filed in Mombasa and not to talk to her lawyers and to leave the country,” Ombeta said.

“Then they realised that there is a habeas corpus application in court and that they would be needed to produce her.”

He said they will not withdraw the case in court.

Ombeta said police acted like bandits adding that they tried to negotiate their cut in the Sh17 billion diesel.

“The fuel she brought was going to be cheaper than the government fuel. It is unfortunate,” he said.

The oil businesswoman who is embroiled in a Ksh17 billion oil importation saga was reported missing last week after visiting the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters on Kiambu Road.

According to reports, Njoroge had been directed to record a statement with authorities by Energy Davis Chirchir after claiming ownership of diesel worth Ksh17 billion imported into the country.

However, according to Chirchir, the consignment was imported by another company.

“The consignment was brought in by a company called Galana and it has been discharged. So, we want to know the truth but the case is in court at the moment,” the CS stated during a tree-planting exercise in Baringo County on Monday.
