MoE sets stage for the release of 2022 KCPE exam results this week according to Education CS Ezekiel Machogu.
This week, the 1.2 million candidates who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams will receive their results.
However, as their grades would no longer be required for Junior Secondary School (JSS) placement as previously anticipated, the 1.2 million Grade Six students who took the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will receive their results next month.
Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for education, assured that precautions had been taken to prevent cheating during the tests that were administered around two weeks ago.
“We will announce the KCPE exam results next week and there will not be any cases of cheating under the leadership of Machogu. KCPE grading is progressing well and the results will not be riddled with any irregularities,” Machogu who spoke from Kisii said.

The CS assured of an accountable process, free from any form of irregularities.
“We have put the necessary measures in place and I assure you there will be no cheating because this time, we have personal accountability at an individual level from the centre manager to the security personnel, supervisors, and invigilators who will make sure there will be no cheating of any kind,” said Machogu.
The MoE stated that the JSS, which are currently housed in existing primary schools, will not be placed using the KPSEA.
Instead, the exam will be used to track student progress in learning and inform others involved in the education industry of areas that need improvement.
The choice is in line with the presidential working committee on education reforms’ interim report.
KCPE marking uses personalized Optical Marker Readers (OMR) to facilitate machine reading, where the answer sheets are personalized to know which belongs to a specific candidate.
