Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has said that his focus remains on serving his constituents rather than engaging in speculation about his political future in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

In an interview on Thursday, September 4, Babu made it clear that service delivery is his priority, noting that dwelling on tomorrow’s uncertainties would only distract him.

“That is tomorrow’s problem; today’s problem is to ensure that my constituents are served and my promises fulfilled. I will not lose the joy of today because of tomorrow’s pressure,” he said.

In addition to addressing his future in ODM, Babu spoke about the new political formation he is part of, the Kenya Moja Movement.

He described it as a coalition of legislators united by a common mission to stand up for Kenyans against economic hardship and corruption.

Babu noted that the group is not just a casual gathering of MPs but a structured movement with a vision to confront what they see as systemic oppression.

“Kenya Moja Movement is a movement of like-minded MPs; we are over 70 MPs who you will be seeing soon. We will not keep quiet and watch Kenyans suffer. The intention of Kenya Moja Movement is to bring down the towers of oppression and raise the banners of freedom.

“We came together because Kenyans are tired of watching their dreams die at the hands of corruption. Kenya Moja comes in to be a revolutionary movement; this is the time for Kenyans to rise and reclaim what has been stolen from them,” he explained.

Earlier Thursday, Babu hinted at the possibility of the Kenya Moja faction joining forces with the United Opposition ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking during a separate interview, the lawmaker cited the Bible to stress the importance of timing in political decisions.

Babu mentioned that the Kenya Moja faction still needs to consolidate its strength before entering into any alliance.

“The bible says in Ecclesiastes 3 that there is a time and a season for everything. When that time comes, we will unite with the United Opposition.

“Right now, we still need to prepare ourselves and set up our base properly so that they can also see we are well organized,” he said.
