MP Elachi explains how accident that claimed her son Elvis occurred

Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi has explained how the accident that robbed her her son Elvis Murakana Namenya occurred.

Delivering her eulogy during the memorial service at Holy Trinity Church in Kileleshwa, Elachi said the son sustained injuries after the car he was driving had a tire burst.

The MP took the opportunity to talk to parents about their children, saying this generation always seeks to solve their challenges on their own.

This is unless they face hurdles they cannot manage to skip on their own.

She said this was the case with Elvis, explaining that he was in bed at 10:30 pm when he was called for an errand.

She said he drove there and did the errand, but on his way back home, he got a tire burst.

Elachi warned drivers that when a car gets a tire burst, they should not break the emergency brakes.

“The car will skid, and that’s where you will find yourself in crisis. What you just do, you hold on that steering and try to ensure that the car goes and pray that it comes to a stop,” she said.

Elachi said that following the accident, Elvis’s brain came out, and he consequently succumbed.

“As mothers, let us pray for this generation. It is a very tough generation that needs a lot of prayers,” she said.

She said on Saturday, she looked at Elvis, who was in the ICU, and she knew he was “going to heaven”.

“I didn’t even tell the doctors, but I could look at him and just say ‘he is going’,” she said.

She described her late son Elvis as a lover of church, music and football.

Elachi said Elvis was introverted, but he loved football.

As he grew, he became a lover of music, she said.

“But one thing I will tell you, he loved this church. And even when I come to church, if you ask the people of Holy Trinity, I’ve never come as Mheshimiwa,” she added.

Elachi prayed that God will have mercy and favour upon Elvis’s soul, so he can see heaven.

She said in their family, their Christian life comes first, with the term and advice of “pray” being frequent.

“Prayer sustains. My spiritual mum will tell you before you walk out the door, remember to pray and tell God to open doors for you and to bring you back safe,” she said.

She added that people should also pray for their cars so that when they go to do their errands, they return safely.

She urged the young people to engage their parents on issues so that they can get the required guidance.

She thanked Elvis’s friends and prayed that God would grant them their desires and open doors for them.

“You are going to graduate, all of you, and in that graduation, may angels open doors for you,” Elachi said.

” I just want to say thank you very much because you prayed for Elvis.”

Elvis will be laid to rest on Saturday at the family home in Nalepo Village, Kajiado County.
