Mutahi Kahiga no longer works with Gachagua- UDA Senator

Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu now says Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga no longer works with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu now says Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga no longer works with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking on Thursday, October 23, Nyutu said Kahiga and former Nyeri town MP Ngujiri Wambugu worked with Gachagua for a while after he was impeached.

The Murang’a Senator alleged that the two leaders are currently aligned with the government.

“We must ask some leaders in ODM; they must not associate the remarks of Kahiga with Rigathi Gachagua. Two leaders from Nyeri were working with Gachagua when he was impeached, but are no longer working with him; they are working with the government.

“One of them is Mutahi Kahiga, and the other is Ngujiri Wambugu. Any statement from those two should not be associated with Gachagua,” said Nyutu.

This comes after Governor Kahiga made remarks suggesting that he was celebrating the death of Raila.

Speaking on Tuesday during a funeral in Nyeri County, Kahiga claimed that the death of the former Prime Minister was a blessing in disguise for the Mt Kenya region.

“All goodies were being directed there because of tomorrow’s plan, because it seemed like they did away with us, but God came and brought this thing. So now people have been told to go back to the drawing board because the plan that was there was probably to throw us out.

“But who is God. Does he take ugali at somebody’s house or sleep in Kayole? He came through in his own way,” said the Nyeri Governor.

Homabay Governor Gladys Wanga on Wednesday claimed that the Governor made the remarks about Raila on his behalf.

Wanga also said the ODM party will not associate with Gachagua’s acquaintances following Governor Kahiga’s remarks.

“What I know is that Kahiga does not speak for himself. Kahiga is the Spokesperson of Rigathi Gachagua. Gachagua mocked Raila’s illness and asked whether he was a virus and whether Kalonzo was a bacterium,” Wanga alleged.

Kahiga later issued an apology for the remarks, saying they were not a celebration of the former Prime Minister’s death.

The Nyeri county boss also said the remarks were his personal views and should not be associated with his community’s position, political affiliation, or the Council of Governors (CoG).

Governor Kahiga also stepped down from his position as the Vice Chairperson of CoG.
