Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company lists Nairobi estates set to experience water outage for 24 hours.

Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) has announced water supply interruption in parts of Nairobi after the vandalism of the Sasumua dam water treatment pipeline to Kabete Water Works in the Kanunga area on Tuesday night.

In a statement, NCWSC said repairs have commenced and are expected to take 24 hours before the water supply is fully reinstated.

“In this regard, our engineers have moved to site and repairs have commenced immediately. The repairs are expected to take 24 hrs from 10:00 am today 28 August 2024. The supply will be reinstated by 29 August 2024 at 12 pm,” read the statement by Nairobi Water in part.

The Sasumua dam water pipeline was commissioned in 1956 covering a length of 56 km and bringing 61,000 cubic meters a day of water to the Kabete reservoir.

The company noted that it will rationalize the water supply from Ngethu to Gigiri reservoirs to reduce the impact of water supply reduction to the west of Uhuru highway with a view of increasing pumping more water from Gigiri to Kabete Water Reservoirs.

“We shall also alleviate the water supply fail by supplying water to schools, hospitals, among other public institutions by water tankers,” Nairobi Water added.
