The unrest by the Nakuru Girls students was triggered by the upcoming end-of-term examinations.
The unrest reportedly stemmed from students’ dissatisfaction with the examination schedule, which the administration declined to adjust.
On Tuesday, July 22, the students went on a rampage, destroying school property of unknown value.
The school Principal Rose Menjo closed the institution indefinitely on Wednesday, with the students being sent home.
This comes days after Kaplong Girls High School in Bomet County was also closed following unrest over sexual abuse by a male teacher.
Claims emerged that the teacher groomed unsuspecting learners and allegedly engaged them in romantic affairs at the institution.

The assertions were made by a group of alumnae, some of whom narrated their supposed encounters with the educator in connection.

As the situation escalated, Principal Clara Mitei ordered the school’s closure until further notice.
On July 13, Lari Boys High School in Kiambu County was also closed indefinitely after a fire linked to student unrest destroyed key facilities in the school.
The inferno gutted the administration block and several classrooms, sparing only the dormitories.
The unrest was triggered after the students were reportedly denied access to musical instruments.
