Father’s Day is a day set aside for honoring fatherhood and the influence of fathers in society.

The post by NPS to celebrate fathers did not sit well with Kenyans, coming in the wake of the death of Voi-based teacher Albert Ojwang while in police custody.

Ojwang was arrested in Homa Bay County and transferred to Nairobi’s Central Police Station, where he died under mysterious circumstances.

Netizens demanded justice for Ojwang’s family, noting that the late blogger’s son cannot celebrate Father’s Day with his father because of police brutality.

“Justice for Ojwang’s son who cannot share the joy with his father, this Father’s Day,” said Nibri.

Other social media users described the police’s Father’s Day post as mocking Kenyans.

“Mocking Kenyans? Have you thought about Albert Ojwang’s son, this Father’s day?” Harun Kimani posed.

A section of Kenyans online also pointed out that the late Ojwang’s father will have no one to wish him Father’s Day since Ojwang was the only child.

“Albert Ojwang’s dad won’t have much to celebrate. His son won’t wish him a happy Father’s Day,” Dennis Gitari stated.

“Ojwang’s Father cannot relate. You took his son’s life like it meant nothing,” Erick Obara remarked.
