In a notice released on Tuesday, July 22, the department stated that it is hiring 244 Senior Economist/Statistician positions (CSG8, Job Group N).

“The State Department for Economic Planning invites applicants from qualified persons for the position of Senior Economic/Statistician, CSG, B,” the notice reads.

In the notice, the department stated that the positions advertised are permanent and pensionable.

To apply for the positions, candidates must have served in an Economist I or Statistician I role for at least three years.

The department requires a bachelor’s degree in fields such as Economics, Statistics, Finance, or a related discipline, a certificate in computer skills, and membership in a relevant professional body.

According to the department, successful candidates will receive a monthly salary ranging from Ksh52,000 to Ksh96,130, in addition to allowances including a housing allowance of Ksh35,000 per month, a commuting allowance of Ksh8,000 per month, and an annual leave incentive of Ksh6,000.

The successful applicants will be responsible for writing policy briefs, tracking national development plans, conducting economic analysis and forecasts, managing programmes, overseeing national data, and offering training support to government and civil society.

The department noted that applicants must complete the Public Service Commission (PSC) Employment Form 2 (Revised 2016), available on the PSC website.

Candidates must apply before 5 p.m. on July 30, 2025. They are advised to submit the application form via email to the department, by hand delivery at the Treasury Building, or by postal mail.

The department added that only shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview, and they will be required to provide their original ID and academic certificates.

It warned applicants that submitting fake documents or engaging in canvassing would result in immediate disqualification.
