New plan to postpone 2027 elections revealed

Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni now says that there is a plan to have the 2027 general election postponed
Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni now says that there is a plan to have the 2027 general election postponed.
In an update on Tuesday, February 25, Kioni said that there are different centers of power laying the groundwork for the postponement of the 2027 polls.
The former Ndaragwa MP argued that the recent judicial talks on the plan for the ouster of Supreme Court judges and the projected IEBC budget are part of the plot.
“The writing is on the wall: different centers of power are laying the groundwork to postpone the next election. The constitution is effectively suspended, from the judicial talks to the projected IEBC budget. What we have now is status quo and self-preservation at all costs. The people must stay vigilant,” Kioni stated.

His sentiments come after IEBC Deputy CEO, Obadiah Keitany revealed that the commission would need at least Ksh 61 billion to carry out the 2027 general election.
He highlighted that IEBC has pending bills amounting to Ksh 3 billion and 45,325 KIEMS kits need to be replaced before the election.
On the other hand, former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi filed a petition with the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) seeking the removal of Supreme Court judges over allegations of gross misconduct and misbehavior.
However, the High Court barred JSC from considering petitions to remove the judges from office after CJ Koome and Justice Njoki Ndung’u sued the commission.
