Wajackoyah claims NIS spies are tracking his phone to arrest him and several Azimio leaders ahead of Monday’s mass protest.

Roots Party Leader George Wajackoyah, alleged on Friday, March 17, that his participation in massive protests put his life in danger.

During a roadside rally in Ruiru, Wajackoyah alleged that officers drawn from the National Intelligence Service (NIS) were tracking his phone in attempts to arrest him and other Azimio la Umoja leaders.

However, the renowned lawyer insisted that he would fight for justice and reforms regardless of any attempts to intimidate him and his fellow opponents.

“We are on this until we finish. The NSIS officers have started to send me messages in attempts to detain me as you have planned to arrest Raila Odinga,” Wajackoyah stated in the rally.

Wajackoyah reaffirmed his commitment to the mass action demonstrations and promised to do everything it took to see the demands of the opposition faction met.

In addition, the former presidential candidate claimed that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was the target of an attack in Kimabu Town following the purported explosion of a tear gas canister during the event.

According to Wajackoyah, the explosion was the result of an assassination attempt on the opposition leaders since they attended the rallies.

“You have to give a statement on why you allowed your police officers to hurl the explosive in the rally,” he noted.

The allegations by Wajackoyah came days after he was caught up in a scuffle while in Tanzania on March 2.

On the night of Tuesday, February 28, 2023, Roots Party of Kenya leader George Wajackoyah was detained at the Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania.

Wajackoyah was in Tanzania to attend the homecoming ceremony of Tanzanian opposition politician Godbless Lema who returned home from exile in Canada on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.

Wajackoyah decried a violation of his rights and blamed the situation on his political stances.
