Nordin Haji dismisses viral NIS letter responding to DP Rigathi Gachagua

National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director General Noordin Haji has distanced himself from a letter of him allegedly hitting out at Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua

National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director General Noordin Haji has distanced himself from a letter of him allegedly hitting out at Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

This comes after on Wednesday, June 26, Gachagua accused Haji of failing to give President William Ruto the necessary intelligence over the deadly anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests.

After Gachagua issued a statement blaming Haji, a letter surfaced online claiming it originated from the NIS boss.

The viral letter claimed that NIS had explosive files about Gachagua, including allegations that Gachagua was planning to topple President William Ruto.

“It can only mean that the DP’s desire is to sabotage the President in the hope that if the President falls, he can benefit from it. The DP should be aware that this service has files and extensive information about him that are damaging to him, but we have kept it under wraps. We invite him to shed off the DP tag so that this service can show him what a personal fight looks like,” the viral letter read in part.

Responding after DP Gachagua’s remarks, Haji’s lawyer Danstan Omari termed the letter circulating on social media as fake.

However, Omari promised to issue a comprehensive response to Gachagua’s damming allegations about his client on Thursday, June 27.

Earlier, Gachagua revealed the machinations allegedly engineered by the National Intelligence Service (NIS) top brass to link him and Uhuru Kenyatta to the recent anti-finance bill protests.

According to the deputy president, Haji had strived to help unnamed government operatives to advance the misplaced narrative that he (Gachagua) and Uhuru were the bankrollers of the protests.
