EACC detectives arrest fraudster claiming to be a NIS officer swindling millions from senior politicians
EACC detectives arrest fraudster claiming to be a NIS officer swindling millions from senior politicians.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a suspected fraudster accused of disguising himself as one of its officers.
The accused is also accused of impersonating a Senior Detective of the National Intelligence Service (NIS).
In a statement, the agency disclosed that the imposter had a history of encounters with law enforcement and was under investigation by multiple agencies.
Shadrack Kariira Ndegwa was arrested for claiming that he could terminate all manner of corruption investigations against any person, at any stage, or sway matters under investigation in favour of the individuals under probe.
“The fraudster dupes his victims, mostly high-ranking officials, into believing that he has top-notch connections with heads of key security and law enforcement agencies in the country and that by a single phone call, he can”cause many things to happen,” the EACC said.
He was arrested at Turraco Bar, along Thika Road, and will be dealt with per the law.
According to EACC, the suspect has been contacting his victims pretending to be investigating “very sensitive matters”.
The fraudster is also said to have threatened his victims that he has information that incriminates them.

The man is reported to have claimed to be well-connected to senior police officers calling the shots at various agencies.
To help out the suspects in question, the imposter would then demand millions as payment.
“He then demands millions of money from the victims to “assist” them out of trouble,” EACC said.
“In negotiating for huge bribe amounts, he tells his victims that the amount needs to be sufficient to pay for his services and also facilitate his ‘talk with wakubwa’.”
EACC has said that any person defrauded by the individual or any other is requested to report the matter to EACC.
