NPSC announces recruitment of 10,000 police officers
The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has announced the nationwide recruitment of 10,000 police constables.
In a notice on Friday, September 19, NPSC invited qualified and suitable candidates to apply to join the National Police Service (NPS).
“Pursuant to the Constitution of Kenya Articles 243(1), 246(3), 243(2)(b), sections 10, 11, 12 and 13 of the National Police Service Commission Act (Cap 185F) and the National Police Service Commission Regulations, the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) seeks to recruit suitably qualified persons as Police Constables,” read the notice in part.
Applicants are required to be citizens of Kenya, hold a valid Kenyan National Identity Card, be aged between 18 and 28 years, have a minimum KCSE mean grade of D+ (with D+ in English or Kiswahili), be physically and medically fit, and be of good character, with no criminal record or pending criminal charges.
NPSC noted that female candidates must not be pregnant at recruitment and during the entire training period.
The commission also encouraged National Youth Service (NYS) graduates who meet the minimum requirements to apply.
How to apply
Interested applicants are required to download and complete the prescribed application form, which is available on the following websites: npsc.go.ke, dci.go.ke, administrationpolice.go.ke, kenyapolice.go.ke, nationalpolice.go.ke, and mygov.go.ke.
Alternatively, the applicants can pick the police recruitment forms from Huduma Centres countrywide or fill out and download the application using the following link: https://prs.npsc.go.ke.
Further, NPSC said applicants must present themselves at designated recruitment centers within their respective constituencies with original and copies of academic certificates and testimonials, national ID, birth certificate, and NYS discharge certificate, where applicable.
“The recruitment process will take place from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in the listed recruitment centres on the dates indicated,” NPSC stated.

At the same time, the commission cautioned applicants against giving out money to secure recruitment, saying it is free of charge.
NPSC noted that anyone found giving or receiving bribes will be disqualified and risk prosecution.
The notice comes days after the NPSC approved the recruitment of 10,000 police constables across the country.
In a statement, the commission said it would employ the necessary regulations to address challenges that mar the police recruitment processes.
The measures, the NPSC said, would aim at ensuring there is transparency in the recruitment drive and that merit is the main basis for the process.
“At the meeting, the Commission deliberated on the upcoming recruitment of 10,000 police constables. To strengthen the recruitment process, the Commission adopted the National Police Service Commission (Recruitment and Appointment) Regulations, 2025, which will guide the recruitment.
“The regulations are developed pursuant to Section 28 of the National Police Service Commission Act to address the gaps identified in the 2015 regulations while incorporating emerging issues in policing and human resource management,” NPSC stated.
