A woman underwent a miscarriage while in custody at the Rwanyambo Police Post in Nyandarua County.
The National Police Service (NPS) Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga, in a statement to newsrooms on Thursday evening, said the officer in charge of the station has since been interdicted with immediate effect.

According to Nyaga, a probe has since been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He noted that the matter has been taken over by the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU), in collaboration with the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA).
“The NPS reaffirms its steadfast commitment to serving and protecting the public, while strictly upholding the rule of law, human rights, and fundamental freedoms. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses,” said Nyaga.
