Kisumu Women Representative Ruth Odinga has appealed to mourners to maintain peace and decorum during the burial of her late sister, Beryl Odinga, scheduled for Saturday, December 6.

Speaking on Friday, December 5, Ruth described her sister as a peaceful and private individual who valued tranquility and carried herself with dignity and class.

“My sister Beryl was a very, very peaceful lady. She loved peace. She was a lady of class, with a great deal of decorum. She carried herself with a lot of decorum,” Ruth stated.

The Kisumu Women Representative urged all those planning to attend the burial ceremony to honor Beryl’s memory by ensuring a peaceful send-off that reflects the values she held dear.

“I would urge anybody who’s coming to mourn with us to please let us bury Beryl with the kind of peace she liked and the peace she loved. That’s all I would like to ask, that we send her off, give her the send-off,” she said.

“Many of you have never even seen her in public much. She wasn’t that much of a public person. She was private, and she loved her peace,” she added.

The legislator called on the public to maintain calm until the burial day, while expressing gratitude for the support the family has received during this difficult time.

“So that is all I would ask our people, that we remain peaceful until the day of burial tomorrow. Thank you all for being there with us, and thank you for the support,” Ruth said.

She also acknowledged fellow politicians who have stood with the family, including her colleague Oron and Members of the County Assembly who have been present during the mourning period.

Ruth reaffirmed the Odinga family’s commitment to remaining strong during this period of grief.

“As a family, we are going to remain stoic, remain together, and be the resilient family the Odingas have always been. And we are here, and we’ll remain here for everybody, and also hoping that you’ll all be for us,” she stated.
