In a statement via his X account on Tuesday, April 8, Kaluma accused the former DP of attacking the sovereignty, reputation and stability of Kenya.
“Gachagua is free 24 hours after lying against the State to foreigners. Some Kenyans play politics with very serious matters. Gachagua can say all he wants about President Ruto, but he cannot attack the sovereignty, international reputation, and stability of the Republic of Kenya as he has been recklessly doing,” read the statement in part.
The ODM lawmaker went on to say that security agencies should strike a balance between Gachagua’s fundamental rights and freedoms and the remarks that threaten the country’s stability.
“The relevant governance and security institutions must strike a quick balance between the need to respect the human rights and fundamental freedoms of Gachagua to say whatever he wants in his bitterness and the overriding public interest in a stable Kenya whose international reputation and standing is respected and preserved by all citizens whatever be their petty grievances,” Kaluma alleged.

The Homa Bay Town MP further said that if Gachagua is not charged, he would set a precedent where citizens would not draw a line between the President and the State.
“The precedent the criminal justice system is setting with him by inaction is creating a very dangerous precedent where individuals wouldn’t draw a line between the President and the State. Arrest and prosecute citizen Gachagua with offences relating to undermining the Republic,” Kaluma claimed.
This comes a day after Gachagua accused President Ruto of doing business dealings with Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the M23 rebels in the DRC.
“For the deaths occurring in Sudan, the real commander of RSF is not Hemedti, it is William Ruto, because for a movement to succeed, it needs money. The money from gold is being cleaned through Kenya to buy arms to go and kill women and children in Sudan,” said Gachagua.
The former DP called on the international community to impose sanctions against President Ruto.
