Kisumu East MP Shakeel Shabir has sparked outrage after a video surfaced showing him parading teachers at a local school, scolding them in front of parents and students, and threatening to fire them.

In a move that many have criticized as humiliating, the MP ordered the entire teaching staff to stand in a line before the crowd and launched into a tirade.

“I want your names, I’m asking for your records; I want to know what time you report to school and what you are up to.

“These (the teachers) are our problem; we are not going to waste time with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), I want to ask the parents to give us permission to fire all these teachers. I will throw you out, I have a list of about 100 teachers who don’t have jobs,” he said.

In one particular moment, Shabir singled out a teacher for not standing properly, publicly berating him in front of students and fellow staff.

“How dare you? Who the hell are you? Others are standing the right way, why are you standing like that?” the MP shouted at the teacher.
