ODM offers Raila’s daughter Winnie Odinga for EALA (East African Legislative Assembly) slot.
According to reports in local dailies, Winnie Odinga is slated to join the Arusha-based East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
Before the deadline of November 2, Raila Odinga’s youngest child submitted her candidacy for the regional legislative house.
Winnie is the latest in a long list of candidates the ODM party will be considered for the EALA parliament representation.
“Yes, she (Winnie) is among the applicants and will be one of the candidates our party will consider when the list will finally be referred to political parties,” an ODM official said.
The ODM party has three slots and will propose six candidates, who will be vetted before being approved.
Nine seats are up for grabs in total; the UDA party will receive a majority.
The combined committee will receive a total of 27 names for review; Wiper Party and Jubilee will each receive one name.
Along with Winnie, prominent figures including former Kieni MP Kanini Kega, former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni, ODM Treasurer Timothy Bosire, former Taveta MP Naomi Shaban, and KANU Secretary-General Nick Salat are considering running for the positions.
