ODM Party issues update after losing Facebook Page to hackers

Raila’s Orange Democratic Party (ODM) party lost control of its verified Facebook page to hackers.

In a statement via X on Saturday, March 23 evening, the Raila Odinga-led party said hackers took control of the page on Friday, March 2022, and are unable to access it.

However, the opposition party assured its supporters that they are working around the clock to recover the Facebook Page which has over six hundred thousand followers. 

The party also noted that it has contacted authorities to help them recover the page. 

“This is to inform you that last night (Friday 22nd March) we lost our popular party Facebook Page to hackers. The page cannot be accessed. However, we are working round the clock to recover it. We have contacted the relevant authorities to assist us in the process to recover it,” ODM said.

This comes after Laikipia East Member of Parliament Mwangi Kiunjuri announced he lost his verified Facebook page to hackers.

In a statement, the former CS said he lost total control of the page on November 14, 2023, and efforts to recover it have proved futile.

“To All of You My Followers & Friends, my attention has been drawn to unusual posts appearing on a Facebook Account that I owned until 5 (Five) months ago – Hon. Mwangi Kiunjuri. It was hacked on Nov 14, 2023. All efforts to recover it have so far, regrettably been unsuccessful,” Kiunjuri stated.

The Laikipia East MP’s page has been posting controversial things including horse mating, fishing activities abroad, and other commercial activities that are not associated with Kenya or Africa.
