In a statement on Saturday, December 6, 2025, ODM announced the death of Margaret Oketch, explaining that it came after a short illness.

The late Margaret Oketch was a member of the ODM Disability League, which empowers persons with disabilities to increase their independence through choice and full participation in Kenya’s governance structures.

According to ODM, she also served as a nominated Member of the County Assembly (MCA) in Siaya.

“We mourn the passing on of Hon. Georgina Margaret Oketch, a member of the ODM Disability League and a former nominated MCA in the Siaya County Assembly after a short illness,” ODM’s statement read in part.

The Orange Democratic Movement further described the late politician as a dedicated member whose contribution to the outfit would be greatly missed.

“We have lost a dedicated member of the party whose immense contribution will be missed. May she RIP,” ODM’s eulogised.

ODM did not immediately explain the funeral plans for the late Georgina Margaret Oketch. Further, the party did not explain the illness that claimed the life of the politician.

Earlier, the National Assembly confirmed the death of nominated Member of Parliament Denar Joseph Hamisi, who passed away on Saturday morning, December 6, 2025, at about 7:00 am.

In a formal communication to the House on Saturday, December 6, 2025, Speaker Moses Wetang’ula described the late MP’s death as a painful loss to Parliament and the country, noting that Denar served with diligence, humility and a steadfast commitment to public service.

“It is with profound sorrow that I hereby notify the House and the entire parliamentary fraternity of the untimely demise of Nominated Member, the late Hon. Denar Joseph Hamisi, MP, who passed on today, Saturday, December 6, 2025, at about 7:00 am,” Wetangula stated.

Denar joined the National Assembly through nomination after the 2022 General Election under the Amani National Congress (ANC) Party.
