Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has chipped in to sponsor a needy student hailing from Mathira Constituency.

The lawmaker encountered 19-year-old Habiba Jattani months ago when he graced the Mathira edition of economic empowerment presided over by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.

Sudi shared that the young lady approached him and divulged her challenges and the urge to pursue her tertiary education.

Financial constraints would however not allow her to join university.

Her father partakes in menial jobs, works as a herder and night-time guard.

Sudi shared in the lady’s suffering, taking it upon himself to sponsor his university education.

He announced having enrolled her at KCA University to undertake Business Information Technology.

“I’m happy to share the inspiring story of Habiba Boru Jattani, a 19-year-old from Karatina, Mathira Constituency, whom I met at the Mathira Bottom-Up Empowerment Day. Habiba’s determination to pursue her dreams despite financial challenges touched my heart. Her father works tirelessly as a cow herder during the day and a night guard at night, struggling to make ends meet. I’m delighted to announce that I’ve sponsored Habiba to join KCA University in Nairobi to study Business Information Technology. I wish her all the best in her studies,” Sudi said.

Such are the initiatives Sudi said he would be partaking in at the expense of church donations.

Last month, the MP declared withdrawing his involvement in church activities, instead directing his focus on community empowerment projects.

He cited the criticism from some of the clergymen who disapprove of politicians’ monetary donations in the places of worship.

“You’ve heard how some church people keep saying all sorts of things and making noise. I’ve decided to put church matters aside. Next year, I’ll focus only on empowerment, and I’ll do it right here in Kapseret throughout the year,” he said.

The lawmaker revealed that his new cause would target the youth, women, and elders to empower them with income-generating ventures.
