Paul Mackenzie Ex-follower claims the cult leader conned over 1,500 people who trooped to Shakahola forest to starve to death

Paul Mackenzie Ex-follower claims the cult leader conned over 1,500 people who trooped to Shakahola forest to starve to death.

A former God News International Church member has disclosed how controversial pastor Paul Mackenzie managed to convince his followers to fast to death.

In an interview with Citizen TV, Mackenzie’s ex-follower narrated how the controversial preacher conned his followers by selling the Shakahola forest land.

After selling them the land, which he doesn’t own, Mackenzie brainwashed his followers to fast to death.

Mackenzie’s ex-ally said more than 300 families and a total of 1500 trooped into Shakahola forest after being promised cheap and blessed land.

The man, whose identity is hidden for security reasons, revealed buying the land was the beginning of the problems.

“Personally, the pastor sold me land. Many people bought land there having sold their properties elsewhere,” he stated.

He revealed that the indoctrination of the controversial preacher was slow, methodical, and deadly.

He further disclosed that Mackenzie was a sayer but not a doer of his own teachings, only fasting two days a week, convincing followers that he would be the last to die.

“Since I knew him, he was fasting two days a week. He was yet to begin starving as he had told people he will die last,” the former follower added.

Followers began fasting in January of this year, and with every week that passed, their bodies withered.

By March the deaths started; the number of bodies, he said, rose each day – children who resisted the fast would be suffocated or strangled to death.

“Wanapokuwa watu wengi inakuwa ni gharama kuchimba kaburi zaidi ya moja,” he added.

He alleged that Paul Mackenzie was present during the funerals, overseeing the digging of the graves as they prepared to lay deceased followers to rest.

In some cases, they would dig up graves to await their next victim.
