Nairobi based police officer found dead in Kirinyaga coffee plantation with head chopped.

The body of a police officer attached to Embakasi, Nairobi was on Tuesday found in a coffee plantation in Ndia, Kirinyaga County.

According to one of the witnesses, the dead officer’s head had been chopped and had knife wounds, a pointer to possible torture. 

“I am really shocked because I was with him. We had met somewhere yesterday evening, but unfortunately today I got reports that he had been killed and his body dumped in the coffee plantation,” a witness noted.

According to a resident, the deceased was an officer at the Embakasi Police Station in Nairobi. It was not clear whether the officer was on holiday or on duty.

Residents alerted police officers in Kirinyaga after finding the body. The police arrived at the scene and took the body to a local mortuary. 

The deceased body was found a few metres from his house. 

Kirinyaga West sub-county police commander Moses Koskei confirmed the death.

He said the body of Timothy Mwangi Ciira, aged 42, had several cuts on the head. 

The deceased’s brother Daniel Karaba said he had expressed fears about his life.

The brother said he lived alone in his house which is surrounded by his uncle’s coffee plantation.

The brother confirmed that the officer works in the Embakasi area further revealing that he separated from his wife.

The body was taken to Kerugoya Referral Hospital in Kirinyaga awaiting postmortem to unravel the cause of death.

The motive behind the murder are yet to be known, but the police have since launched investigations.
