According to a police report seen by nairobileo.co.ke, the incident happened in Kokwet bar within the Juakali Center.
The officer who has been identified as Erick Kirui from Tembelio police station in Moiben Sub County was drunk and armed with an AK 47 rifle when he opened fire and killed Caroline Malakwen whom he was cohabiting as a wife, and Ignatius Kipchumba alias Mwala.
During the incident, another man, namely Antony Stephen Mbifa, was hit by a ricochet and sustained an injury on his right side of his head.
“He had shot dead two members of the public, namely Caroline Malakwen whom the officer was cohabiting with as a wife, and was the owner of Kokwet pub, and Ignatius Kipchumba alias Mwala,” the report read in part.

The OCS Jua Kali, together with officers from Sugoi patrol base, disarmed and arrested Kirui while attempting to flee the scene.
“With the reinforcement of the officers who turned up, he was arrested and disarmed while attempting to flee from Kokwet pub. An AK47 rifle serial number KP, 5521789, loaded with 22 rounds of 7.62 X 39 special was recovered,” the police stated.
The police also revealed that he was issued with the firearm for night duties, but instead he took a Boda Boda, which he possibly used to get to get to the scene.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to the MTRH hospital mortuary in Eldoret pending post-mortem.
