Police officer opens fire at an entertainment joint in Bungoma after being denied service.

A police officer attached to the Kenya Prisons Service (KPS) has been arrested following an incident of opening fire at an entertainment joint in Bungoma County.

According to a police report, the officer accompanied by another colleague who is currently at large, visited the entertainment joint minutes before midnight on Thursday, April 11, and demanded service.

As the entertainment joint was on the verge of closing, the officers were denied service, leading to an altercation between them and one of the attendants.

Shortly thereafter, the arrested officer drew his gun and fired a shot into the air.

“They got annoyed and exchanged insults with the attendant and immediately the officer shot one round of 7.62mm making the revellers scamper for their safety.

“The two warders then went downstairs and spread in different directions and started shooting indiscriminately,” read the report in part.
